LITHOPHANES
Each 5 x 9’ charcoal drawing will be used as the basis for a RHINO 3D generated file to be carved in bas-relief in Corian with a CDC router. The final piece will be six panels, illuminated from behind. The series was inspired by the paintings of Eduard Vuillard, film stills, and the landscape of Greece.
TESTS
A series of tests were made on scrap Corian, to gauge the ideal depth of the cut. Excerpts from the drawing “Lamentation” were used in determining if the positive or the negative of the image was preferred.
